Backpacking September 2003

We just descended about 750' from our campsite. It was above the pouroff stain on the cliff behind Amanda.

We finally get to peer into the depths of Zion Canyon far below.

This is Angel's Landing. It is a long spire of rock about 1000' tall jetting out into the canyon. Here you see a single step, on either side of this 3' wide step is a thousand foot drop, sounds fun huh!!

This is the last of the switchbacks leading to the bottom of the canyon. It was nice to finally dip ourselves into the Virgin River's waters.

The trip wore us out, so we took a day of relaxing and short hikes. This is the east side of the park, it is completely different than the other parts of the park and very beautiful.

Then we found a cool mini slot canyon. Awesome orange light comes in from above.

Here we are at the mouth of the Narrows with the virgin river behind us.
